Tour description:

The cable car takes you comfortably up to the Rauschberg in around six minutes. At the mountain station, the path leads past the Rauschberghaus directly to the entrance gate of the Holzgeisterweg , where Kölli is already waiting for his guests. He sends her on a circular route that is all about wood. It has been mined in and around Ruhpolding for ages. Many old wooden drifts - something like water transport routes - or the woodcutters' museum in the district of Laubau bear witness to this.

The Holzgeisterweg deals with the topic in a playful way. A tree trunk you can walk into is just one of seven stops along the way. What is dead wood for? Why is it so important and for whom? Why is a mountain forest the best avalanche protection and what dangers is it itself exposed to? Connections are clearly explained on pictures and display boards.

The round on the Holzgeisterweg, which is also very easy to walk with prams, takes around 45 minutes . The panorama is wonderful everywhere, it goes into the Alps and out into the foothills of the Alps. The interactive teaching and adventure trail was created under the leadership of the Bavarian State Forests in cooperation with the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, the Ruhpolding municipality and the Rauschbergbahn.
