Tour description:
This beginner-friendly trail running loop takes you along easy-to-run trails through the Kendlmühlfilzen Nature Reserve. As you follow the Moor Circular Trail and the Moor Experience Trail, you’ll experience the unique moorland landscape with its sweeping views. A short detour will take you to the observation tower.
A highlight of the route is the detour to the Rottauer Waterfall before heading back to Grassau along undulating scenic trails.
Tip for this tour:
- At the Salz & Moor Museum in the Klaushäusl (May through October), you can learn more about the moor.
- The museum café next door serves delicious cake.

Tips for this tour
This route is great for runners who want to give trail running a try. The first few kilometers through the moor are flat, so it’s easy to get into a rhythm. Then the terrain becomes undulating, but it remains easy to run on throughout.
If you feel like pushing yourself along the route, run down to the Salz und Moor Museum and tackle the 188 steps at a brisk pace!
