"Steckerlfisch" (fish on a stick) and stand concert, "Schuhplatteln" (traditional dance) and "Schmalzbrot" (lard bread): A holiday in the Chiemgau-Area is a good opportunity to get to know the regional cuisine and the customs that have grown and been cultivated over centuries. All traditional events are popular with guests and locals - from the Georgiritt at Easter to the erection of the maypole and the Leonhardiritt in November. In between there are many summer costume festivals and parades. The magnificently decorated steeds are just as eye-catching as the proudly worn historical costumes of the Chiemgau residents.
