Grassau car park Museum Salz & Moor - waterfall - Hefteralm - Bergwalderlebnisweg - Hochplattenbahn - Staffnalm - Rachlalm - Panoramaweg - starting point

The Salzalpen circular tour " About Grassauer Almen " on easy hiking trails and short, sometimes steeper forest climbs starts in Grassau at the parking lot of the Salt & Moor Museum. Along the Grießenbach it goes to the area of the Grassauer Almen and on the mountain forest adventure trail on the Staffen. In addition to many informative and eventful stations, you will find a magnificent view (not only) of Lake Chiemsee.

The first stage destination is the Hefteralm (930 m). You walk past an intact bread oven and shouldn't be surprised if you suddenly see Shetland ponies instead of the usual alpine cows , which the alpine landlady breeds herself. It's not just the seductively fragrant Kaiserschmarren that tempts you to take a break here on the alp, but also a snack plate with homemade cheese.

A forest road continues uphill in slight serpentines. With the Chiemsee, which can be seen clearly from up here, behind you and some peaks of the Chiemgau Alps in view, you pass the Moieralm (1000 m) and continue leisurely uphill to the Staffnalm.

mountain forest adventure trail

More than 20 stations are set up over almost four and a half kilometers, offering a good mix of information, excitement, action and relaxation. There are inviting benches and loungers made of wood, several play stations and two viewing platforms. The way back is past the Rachlalm (920 m) (a quiet alternative for a stop), past the Zeppelinhöhe vantage point and through a wonderful forest to the Stehtrump district. From there it goes, following the signs, over a path and the panorama path back to the starting point.

Tips:

The Salt & Moor Museum, which is right on the trail, is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are traveling with children, you can only do the mountain forest adventure trail and reach it comfortably with the Hochplattenbahn from Marquartstein.

In order to be able to really enjoy the hike, you should plan a whole day, the pure walking time (without breaks) is about six hours.
