Tour description:

From the Blindau hikers' car park, a wonderful winter hiking trail leads over to the ski jumps. Along the game reserve of Gut Steinbach we hike on a flattened path next to the cross-country ski run to a clearly visible hilltop on the eastern edge of the reserve.

At the top, follow the green signs to the right in the direction of Schusterwald forest. You should put on your snowshoes now, at the latest, because this is where the non-rolled path up to the Hindenburghütte restaurant begins. Along the wide forest road, the path winds its way up through the forest with many curves. Enjoy the silence and the wintry splendor of the majestic mountain forest.

In between, the forest offers spectacular perspectives of Reit im Winkl and the surrounding mountains. You certainly haven't seen Reit im Winkl like this before! The path is quite steep at first, but flattens out significantly from the second half at the latest and runs in a hilly fashion up to the Hindenburghütte hut. The last few meters to the Hindenburghütte are flat.

If you still have strength and don't want to return straight away, you should continue to the Hemmersuppenalm and St. Anna's chapel via the signposted premium winter hiking trail. The plateau is beautiful and you have a fantastic view of the Chiemgau mountains. When you get back to the Hindenburghütte, you can either follow the same path back into the valley. Alternatively, you can take a toboggan or the shuttle bus for a fee via the private road to Blindau.
