Summit route with a brilliant view over the Chiemgau Alps and Lake Chiemsee
Tour description:
The demanding circular hiking route starts right at the Tourist Information in the center of Grassau. The route passes the Bergbad biotope and the former Strehtrumpf inn. From there, it continues along a shaded forest path to the Hefteralm. Then it goes across alpine meadows towards the Rottauer Moieralm up to the Staffen circular trail, which can be incorporated into the route without major detours. A path leads through the shaded mountain forest to the Grassau high alpine pastures. Then begins the last steep section of the summit trail, the most challenging part of the route. A magnificent view over Lake Chiemsee and the Chiemgau Alps rewards the ascent. The return path then heads towards Haberspitz, past the mountain station of the Hochplatten cable car and the mountain inn Staffn-Alm. Finally, it descends to Marquartstein and returns to the starting point of the route in Grassau.
