The Lembergschneid is a popular tour destination for snowshoe hikers in the picturesque mountains of the Chiemgau Alps.
Tour description:
The Winklmoos - Alm gondola lift takes you from Seegatterl to the ski area of the same name. The tour starts directly at the mountain station and leads up the winter hiking trail in the direction of the Dürrnbachhorn nostalgic chairlift. Just turn around, the view across to the Steinplatte and the Lofer mountains is beautiful.
Just before the Chairlift car park, follow the signposted road straight ahead to the Dürrnbachalmen. In the middle of winter, the path is covered in deep snow and you can put on your snowshoes right at the start. In early winter and spring, the road is often empty and you can easily walk to the alpine pastures. When the view opens up after the forest and you enter the alpine pasture area, the further path is clearly visible.
Past a large information board of the alpine club, a path leads along the left edge of the forest to the Dürrnbachgraben between Dürrnbachhorn and Lemberg Schneid.
Note: This section is often used as a ski tour. The existing ski ascent track should not be used by snowshoe hikers so that it remains intact.
At the end of the valley between Dürrnbachhorn and Lemberg Schneid you hike over an evenly sloping slope to the left in the direction of Lemberg Schneid. On the last meters up to the summit it gets a little steeper again, but technically the tour remains easy. From the summit you have an incomparably beautiful view of the Kaisertal valley and the northern Chiemgau Alps.
After a long rest at the summit, follow the same path back to the Winklmoos-Alm. There are opportunities for food and drink at the Winklmoos-Alm.
The ascent to the Dürrnbachhorn summit is also possible with snowshoes.
If you want to descend to Seegatterl with snowshoes, don't hike back to the Winklmoos-Alm. Instead walk down to the Dürrnbachalmen and hike down between the alpine pastures over the flattened path to Seegatterl. An additional hour should be scheduled for this.
