Tour description:

Route: Reit im Winkl (675 m) - Blindau - Klausenberg-Alm (804 m) - Bavaria-Tyrol border - Kreuzanger-Alm - Eggenalm-Sattel (1573 m) - Straubinger Haus (1558 m) - Hindenburghütte (1261 m) - Nattersberg Alm – Seegatterl – Reit im Winkl

At the starting point at the Tourist Info in Reit im Winkl you turn south, drive past the district of Blindau and through the Klausenbachklamm. At the Klausenberg-Alm you come to open alpine pastures and cross the green border to Tyrol. Now follow the signs (Forststraße) to the Straubinger Haus, about 3km it goes steadily uphill, now follows a 2km descent until it zigzags further on the wide gravel road, steep and strenuous up to the Eggenalm . After the flat meadow saddle, the Straubinger Haus awaits you with a fine menu of food and drinks - as well as with magnificent views of the Chiemgau Alps and the main ridge of the Alps. Those who are not yet exhausted after the 1000 meters in altitude in the saddle can lock up their bikes at the Straubinger Haus and hike on easy paths to the nearby Fellhorn - or to the even closer Eggenalmkogel. The (almost) endless downhill fun back to Reit im Winkl begins right at the hut for refreshments and overnight stays. A wide and fast gravel road leads through open alpine pastures, later through sparse forest past the Hindenburghütte and the Nattersberg-Alm to the Seegatterl . This is where the rushing ride ends and you roll relaxed along the Schwarzlofer on the road parallel to the main road back to the Tourist Info in Reit im Winkl.

Highlights: the spectacular Klausenbach Gorge, a stop and a view at the Straubinger Haus, the (almost) endless descent to the Seegatterl

Variants: The tour can also be wonderfully driven in the other direction.

Bike & Hike: from the Straubinger Haus to the Fellhorn (1765 m) or to the Eggenalmkogel (1686 m)
