Lake Falkensee

Nestled in the nature reserve of the eastern Chiemgau Alps , the Falkensee is hidden between the Falkenstein and Gruberhörndl . The Falkenseebach stream of the same name flows through the lake and makes its way from south to north through the idyllic valley. The crystal-clear, moor-green water gives a clear view of the trout, which are leisurely circling around here. Make yourself comfortable on one of the benches and enjoy the peace and quiet in the midst of the Chiemgau mountains . Dangle your feet in the clear, refreshing water and watch the trout swim their lengths. There are information boards on the edge of the shore that describe the formation of the Falkensee and allow every visitor to become a discoverer.

Hike the Falkensee

Hike or cycle to the Falkensee and immerse yourself in the unique natural landscape. Far away from everyday life, you will experience a pleasant silence here that invites you to switch off.

An easy hiking trail takes you around the Falkenstein to the Falkensee. Starting from the Max Aicher Arena , Inzell's speed skating hall, you walk past the Zwingsee . At the beginning a slight increase awaits you, then the path leads flat and relaxed through the untouched nature to the idyllically situated Falkensee. Take a break, make yourself comfortable on a bench and let your eyes wander over the lake. On your way back to the Max Aicher Arena you hike further north, along the Falkenseebach and completely circle the Falkenstein. On the way we recommend a detour to the Krottensee , which is a true oasis of peace thanks to its location.

The Falkensee as an oasis of calm for mountain bikers

All those who like it a little more sporty can also reach the Falkensee by mountain bike . The "Hochstaufen" mountain bike tour connects the Chiemgau with the Berchtesgadener Land and, on its approximately 45-kilometer tour, also passes the Falkensee. Treat yourself to a break and enjoy the tranquility at Falkensee. The rest area by the lake is also ideal for a small picnic by the lake. Strengthened, it is now once again around the Hochstaufen.

Tip

One of the SalzAlpenTouren also leads past the Falkensee. These tours complement the cross-border premium SalzAlpenSteig long-distance hiking trail. Hike in the footsteps of the white gold and follow the SalzAlpenSteig over 230 km from Lake Chiemsee through the Chiemgau, past Lake Königssee to Lake Hallstatt in Austria. A total of 6 stages of the SalzAlpenSteige and 5 SalzAlpenTouren run through the Chiemgau.
