Kirchanschöring

A place to stay

In 2004, Kirchanschöring, located between Lake Waging and the Salzachauen, received a gold medal in the national competition “Our village should be more beautiful”, also for the village community. Details are given today on an instructive circular route. Young families and visitors in particular feel at home here. This is not least due to the wide range of leisure activities: playgrounds and football pitches, skate and BMX parks or a public bouldering tower on the sports field as well as cultural events in the Saliter Hall and concerts in the pavilion at the Achenpark. There are also many opportunities to be in nature and recharge your batteries: fishing, swimming, sailing and surfing on the lake.

Modern music and traditional courtyards

In the private farm museum in Hof, visitors can gain an insight into the world of yesteryear and learn about old working techniques. The privately run book hut by Erika and Franz Aicher on the Luise-Rinser-Wanderweg in Güßhübel, which is increasingly establishing itself as a meeting place, is particularly original. Since 2005, the "Im Grünen" music festival has been attracting lovers of alternative sounds to the Kirchanschöringer Achenpark. At the beginning of June every year, in addition to musical insider tips, there are also street food wagons, a job mile and the usual casual family atmosphere.

Local history of Kirchanschöring

Kirchanschöring was first mentioned in the "noticia arnonis" of the Salzburg Bishop's Chair in the 8th century. In the 17th century, the district of Lampoding was united with the castle built in the mid-16th century to form the double Hofmark Lampoding-Wolkersdorf. In 1852 the castle was demolished in the hope of a (non-existent) treasure trove. In 1816, after belonging to the archdiocese of Salzburg for centuries, Kirchanschöring, like the entire Rupertiwinkel, finally fell to Bavaria. In 1972 the district of Laufen was dissolved and Kirchanschöring was incorporated into the district of Traunstein.

Kirchanschöring personalities

As a professional soccer player at FC Bayern Munich, Kirchanschöringer Bernd Dürnberger (born 1953) showed his presence on the pitch in 375 Bundesliga games from 1972 to 1985. As a committed local politician and honorary citizen, Alfons Meindl (1929-2006) was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1995. The Alfons Meindl Social Foundation, founded in 2008, also goes back to him. The tradition of the Meindl family, which was successful in the leather and shoemaking trades, dates back to 1683.

Winter

The preservation of the scenic and cultural local heritage is a top priority in Kirchanschöring. This is shown not only by the bee educational trail set up in Wolkersdorf in 1999. As a member community of the eco-model region Waginger See-Rupertiwinkel, Kirchanschöring supports sustainable agriculture, food quality and regional marketing. There is also a lot of fun with the ice stock shooters in town. The elegantly designed shop of the family company Meindl invites you to a special shopping experience, not only on cold days. There you will find high-quality leather, traditional costume and shoe fashion from our own production, useful and lasting souvenirs from your holiday in the Chiemgau-Area, so to speak.
