With its three mountains perfect for skiing, Ruhpolding offers experts, beginners and returnees the best possible slopes. The slopes are ideal for the first turns on skis or snowboards.

Biathlon World Cup Ruhpolding

More than 100 years ago, the first pioneers in Ruhpolding were out and about on “ski boards”. The enthusiasm for cross-country skiing has not slackened to this day: Every year in January, the Chiemgau Arena, the " Mecca of biathlon", inspires thousands of biathlon fans. So it's no wonder that you will find a paradise for cross-country skiers here. You will find many cross-country trails in Ruhpolding varying on levels of difficulty. A special highlight is the "Drei-Seen-Loipe" (three-lake trail) in “Little Canada” between Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl. If you want to track down the international biathlon stars, you can learn the art of shooting in the biathlon camp founded by the former national trainer and Olympic champion Fritz Fischer. This Programm is also suitable for children and young people who can practice with safe laser rifles.

A winterstory

Cross-country Mecca

With around 130 km of groomed trails, the Upper Bavarian town is a "cross-country Mecca".

Alpine skiing

Those who prefer alpine skiing can choose from three small but fine ski areas in Ruhpolding. There is floodlit skiing on the Unternberg and Westernberg.

Winter wonderland

Just as popular: winter hikes or horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow-covered landscape. The natural toboggan run on the Unternberg provides tobogganing trails for young and old.

Alternatives

Popular indoor activities are offered by the ice rink, tennis hall and “Vita Alpina”, the large adventure and wellness pool.
