Start of the season on the mountain

Not long now until the Alpine pasture drive. From this point onwards, the alpine dairymen and women will be there for their guests again. Above all, the mountain pastures must be free of snow. It is therefore essential to find out whether the mountain hut you are planning to visit is already open - or pack a snack. There are mountain inns that cater for guests all year round. Many can be reached by mountain railway and many offer fantastic views.

Fancy stories about hiking, life on the mountain pastures, herb women and paraglider pilots? Then you've come to the right place.

Cuisine & indulgence

From Steckerlfisch to Michelin-starred cuisine - that's a good way to describe the culinary offerings in Chiemgau. Rustic, savoury dishes can be found in inns, fish huts and mountain huts. And since the Michelin stars were awarded a few days ago, one thing is certain: Chiemgau also has a lot to offer gourmets.

A good meal is accompanied by Pilsner, Helles or wheat beer, preferably from the local Chiemgau breweries.
