The 4th stage of the Salzalpensteig from the mountain station of the Hochfelln cable car in Bergen to Ruhpolding has its starting point at the 1664 meter high Hochfelln summit . First you take the cable car from Bergen to the top of the Hochfelln . On this approx. 20-minute ride in a large gondola, we get a small foretaste of what awaits us on this hike: A beautiful view of the surrounding country .

Arrived at the mountain station, we have a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, such as the Tauernkogel (2988m), the Großvenediger (3674m), the Wendelstein (1856m) and the Kampenwand (1670m).

After enjoying the impressive view, the hike starts immediately with a relatively steep downhill stretch . The stage leads through typical mountain pines , over large alpine meadows and through forests steadily down the mountain. In this way we also pass the Felln-Alm , which is very idyllically located in the middle of a large clearing , as well as the Farnboden-Alm, which follows shortly thereafter. The route continues in the forest, accompanied by the rushing of the Thoraubach and lets us circle the Reitstein (1250m).
